Owned by Mike Contreras, this classic car has become an extension of his family and a creative outlet that doubles as a source of therapy. Built to help his family deal with his wife having a brain tumor, it wasn’t till after her surgery that construction on this award-winning lowrider began. From top to bottom, this El Camino has gone through a major transformation which hasn’t stopped, and since we photographed it, Mike has added a ton of additional mods. THE FACTS

  • Most of the car was built in his backyard with his good friends Orlando and Abel. 
  • The interior and exterior took only one year to complete.
