A 1985 Cutlass Supreme that
brings you into Bobby's World.

I’m more of a traditional lowrider guy. I like things plain and simple. It probably has a lot to do with my personality as well. I’m a simple guy, live a minimal life, and don’t need much to operate. But it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a muraled-out lowrider. In fact, it’s one of my obsessions.
I love staring at custom murals. It gives me a chance to live inside someone’s world, and when I ran across this 1985 Cutlass Supreme at Fairmont Park, it’s safe to say I was in “Bobby’s World.”
While most gawked at the murals of Robert DeNiro, I was focused on something more familiar and closer to home. It was the Waterman Discount Mall mural – something only a fellow Berdoo (San Bernardino) resident like me would understand.
This got me chatting with the owner, Bobby Saiz, and that’s when he broke down the theme of his ride. Rather than go with the traditional theme of scantily clad women, Bobby wanted this car to reflect his life from past to present. Shinji Hara airbrushed the murals of Robert DeNiro, while airbrush artist Tony GRone completed the portraits of all his children, the various San Bernadino attractions he grew up around, and murals of his wife and family. “This car means a lot to me. This car means a lot to my family as well,” says Bobby. As we talked more in detail about the various aspects of this frame-off build, he added, “There is no amount of money that will let me part from this car. It has a lot of sentimental value to me. When I was down at my bottom with nothing in my name, all I had was this car. It was therapy for me, and it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come.”
With the Oldsmobile Rocket emblem tattooed on his right hand and the original Oldsmobile logo on his left, it should come as no surprise that Bobby is a loyal brand advocate. With plans to finish off an ’84 Cutlass that he’s been working on for his wife Veronica, it’ll just be a matter of time before you catch the two of them on a Blvd near you.
This experience should also serve as a reminder that every car has a story. All you have to do is take the time to ask a few questions, and what you get in return will give a great appreciation for the car and the owner. Who knows, you might even make a new friend while getting a better understanding of the vision behind the build.
