Nu Minis hosts a fundraiser to celebrate the life
and times of famed airbrush artist Danny D

The So Cal mini truck community gather at El Dorado Park to pay homage to a legend

Danny D. Galvez, known to many as “El Jefe” was a household name when it came to custom automotive paint. A legend in his own right, Danny’s paint jobs were to die for and his two-year waitlist was further proof that his art was appreciated and worth the wait. A respected name in both lowriding and the mini truck community, Danny was a master artist who held a serious relationship with color. With intense passion and unavoidable obsession, it’s safe to say Danny set the stage for some legendary work that will forever live.

News of Danny’s passing sent shockwaves throughout the automotive industry, and to pay homage to his life as a world-renowned artist, the Nu Minis mini truck club hosted a fundraiser to celebrate his life. The event, hosted at El Dorado Park, attracted a strong showing of So Cal mini trucks with attendance from various clubs and solo riders. 

 

80’s Kid: The Kokopelli clan showed up with this fresh Suzuki Samurai that featured work by the legendary Danny D. 

Attendees to the gathering were treated to a full-on display of an 80’s era flashbacks. Suzuki Samurais, Nissan Hardbodys, and old-school Toyotas packed the lot, and there was no shortage of old-school jams blaring for the custom sound systems. As folks shared their memories of Danny D, many were quick to share the work they had done by the famed artists. From cab top murals to complete paint jobs, Danny’s work continues to share not only his work but his legacy. 

A special thanks to Patty Pineda of Mini Truck Era Magazine for the invite. It was always great to see friends, family, and all the familiar faces that gathered for a good cause and the final farewell. 

So Cals mini truck community came together bringing back a blast from the past.
